Rhode Island HIE is Rhode Island’s unified health information exchange.
We connect healthcare providers, public health agencies, and community partners through secure, seamless data sharing, ensuring critical health data is accessible where it is needed, when it is needed.
By enabling the reliable sharing of health information across the state’s health care ecosystem, Rhode Island HIE supports better care coordination, improved quality and safety, and more efficient health care delivery.
On July 1, 2026, Rhode Island’s health information exchange (HIE) transitioned to a more unified model, which brought technology, operations, and management under a single organization. Today, CRISP Shared Services (CSS) serves as both the Regional Health Information Organization (RHIO) and the operator of the HIE.
Rhode Island HIE Office Hours are held on the third Wednesday of each month at 12:00 p.m., ET.
These informal sessions are open to all Rhode Island HIE users and provide an opportunity to ask questions,
hear updates, and learn how to get the most benefit from our tools and services.

Stop chasing records. Start coordinating care. Near real-time alerts delivered via CEND keep care teams up to date with patients’ hospital encounters, enabling proactive care coordination and enhanced patient care.
Efficiently manage your entire patient population with Population Explorer. Filter and sort your patient panel to identify exactly who needs attention: whether patients who are overdue for preventive screening or those frequently using the emergency department. These insights allow you to prioritize outreach, close care gaps, and strengthen care coordination across your practice.
When every moment matters, you need reliable information at your fingertips. With InContext, clinicians can view detailed patient history, including lab results, clinical notes, imaging reports, and medications, directly within the EHR. By embedding this data into existing workflows, InContext helps reduce duplicative testing and supports safer, more informed care delivery.
CRISP Shared Services (CSS) serves as the operator of the Rhode Island HIE and as its designated RHIO. As a nonprofit organization, CSS provides technology infrastructure and strategic expertise to support HIE functions. Its proven shared services model, used across multiple states and regions, helps reduce costs while enhancing the resilience and sustainability of the HIE.
Because CSS is already the technology provider for Rhode Island’s HIE, this transition enables continuity of services while strengthening the overall system with a fully integrated structure.
